“Following these allegations, House Republicans began to come forward with disturbing stories about Rep. Foley’s penchant for viewing underage pornographic films with the volume off, while creating his own sound effects with common household items.” I wonder what motivated the **St. Pete Times** to sit on the story for so long. (The link **Equipoise** provided doesn’t seem to work for me.) They always seemed to me to be a fairly decent paper, by central Florida standards anyway, which admittedly isn’t saying much. ---

Right now, it looks like the Democratic candidate has a reasonable chance of winning the seat, although originally it looked like Foley would win decisively. The House Republican leadership should have dealt with this when it first arose, so they could get another candidate out there. Instead they sat on it until it leaked this close to the election. (I also wonder whether he did anything other than send inappropriate emails and IMs.) ---
