I bought travel insurance for a planned airplane flight within the US, and I wound up canceling my plans. I had no problems getting paid after providing the documentation requested about why I canceled. I would buy it again for future travel plans, personally.

I’ve found that the best advice is: If you can’t cover the loss out of pocket, insure.
