Do Jewish and Islamic dietary laws have anything in common?

I was under the impression that, like in Judaism, when one’s life is at stake, one can eat forbidden foods. In Judaism, for example, while one would not be permitted to kill someone in order to eat him, one could eat someone already dead if it was a matter of life and death. Is that not the case in Islam?
