Oh the coy thing very cute. Heidegger was a Nazi who scratched out the dedication in his magnum opus to Edmund Husserl (a Jew, converted Catholic, Austrian, who lost two sons in the Great War) and denied him any ability to teach, essentially anywhere in Europe. He was the “philosophy” wing of the Nazi Party, Heidegger was. Riding on Husserl’s coat-tails.
Yes, you know Arendt was one of the very liberal-minded Jews who favored foregiveness. She was also, famously, Heidegger’s assistant and clandestine mistress for many years.
No, but there is a whole 'nother category of Jews who dislike German Jews. Or more accurately German-Jews. They have a special name: Yeckes, because of the suit jackets they wore. The explanation is simple. They got to the US, for the most part, a generation before the rest of us, got well-established and then started discriminating socially against the new arrivals, the Jews from Poland and further east. But I wouldn’t call it hatred, only dislike.
As for the OP, yes I am uncomfortable around Germans. I feel, maybe wrongly, that too many of them are really anti-semites. And when a German judge tries to outlaw circumcision, I get nervous. And back in the fifties when the VW bug was the cheapest car on the lot, I still felt uncomfortable about buying it and called it a “Nazi-wagon”. Irrational? Yes, but that was how I felt. And still feel.

Immanuel Kant was a real piss-ant who was very rarely stable.
Heidegger, Heidegger was a boozy beggar who could think you under the table. ..
David Hume could out-consume Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel.
And Wittgenstein was a beery swine who was just as sloshed as Schlegel.
There’s nothing Nietzsche couldn’t teach 'ya 'bout the raising of the wrist.
Socrates, himself, was permanently pissed.

Actually it was this that made me really confused in the circumcision thread (not just from you). Maybe it is different because being in Britain I have met countless Germans, but honestly they are generally a very left wing bunch. The idea of them being closet anti-semites is crazy to people. And the circumcision court case is definitely not a “pro-[anti-{jew|muslim}]” culture thing, so much as something about individual rights in the same way as say prostitution.
Then again it may be that I have met an unrealistic sample. While I have been to Germany on occasion I certainly haven’t lived there.
Yeah, we heard that DavidHume could consume. Oh gawd it’s too bad. Dorion Cairns could not consume and he still wrote good for a little kid.
Monty Python up in here? Where’s your self-respect, boy? Yeshiva to you.
That’s a filthy ;lie about b about what’
s hos name they he did it justb fine;. Old Wittgenstyen the takkestt finnbish sopy did a good turn and got his own fjo:RD – probably a contintental, you.
In that the discussion is about individual rights trumping societal rights, I guess he is. (Individual right to decide what is best for your child, individual right to decide you want to sell your body for sex, society thinking to various degrees that both are wrong).
But seriously that was damn obvious. Looks to me like you were desperately searching for something to be outraged about.
Oh and in that circumcision thread there were a few people that were not just holding a grudge, they were actively being racist towards Germans.
