A men’s cycle race has a King Of The Mountains - theoretically the best climber, judged by success in leading over the climbs. Unsurprisingly, women’s cycling has a Queen Of The Mountains. However, in both men’s and women’s stage races (ie, races with multiple stages over multiple days, like the Tour De France), there is a Queen Stage - the one which is (by general consensus) the most difficult climbing day. j. ---

In France, it’s traditional to mark the Epiphany with a _galette des rois_. What are situations where there are two competing Kings then? I just realized this as both Tarzan and King Kong have at various points been called “King of the Apes”. ---

The King Cake tradition continues with many here in the US. The cake may have a silver dollar or similar item as a prize to be kept by a child who discovers it, or an adult who is expected to use the prize next year as it becomes their responsibility to make the next cake. ---
