I see Cramer becoming a scapegoat in all this, which is unfortunate for Cramer and the industry as a whole.

Watching what little of CNBC I have today, it all seems to be about Cramer and his hedge fund shenanigans, not how did we mess up as a network or system.

Dammit. I was hoping this would be CNBC’s and by extension the MSM’s come to Jesus moment, but it seems I’m too optimistic.

> I’m at the end of the unedited Stewart-Cramer interview, by the way, and Stewart says bluntly, twice, that his show is not fair and doesn’t pretend to be.

I think the unedited version is a must-see- besides calling Joe Scarborough a douche, Stewart does point out that at least Cramer had the balls to be the ONLY person at CNBC willing to get in front of this.

But Cramer came off very, very badly, even after the obvious lawyering up he did in anticipation of the 2006 tapes being shown.

> True; “fake news” is probably not correct. But what they definitely are not: they’re not journalists. They shouldn’t be held to journalism standards. CNBC should.

I agree. Really, these are really important issues. Why play around with them like Crammer does?

> I think “fake news” is a backformation (though I recall them using it themselves) taken from “fake news show.” Different animal entirely. They dress themselves up as a news show, but it’s meant to be comedy.

It could be a backformation. Someone has to research that. But the Daily Show is clearly about lampooning (I incorrectly used the word “satire”). I don’t think they dress themselves as a news explicitly. No more than SNL. Really they’re about showing how stupid the media is.

Dream on.
