Occasionally there will be a cartoon on the ceiling…something medical and funny. Or a poster of inspirational quotes about women. But no half-nekkid guys. I agree with everyone else…that’s creepy. ---

If the point was erotic stimulation (which, obviously, has nothing to do with seeing one’s OB/GYN), I suspect that most women would prefer a good romance story versus “the package” right there in broad daylight. Female porn tends towards nuance. We’re not visual in the same way men are. ---

The only posters I’ve seen on the ceilings of doctors’ or dentists’ offices tend to be of the kitten/butterfly/waterfall variety. Something pleasant but relaxing. Generally, I appreciate having something to look at. I’ve even seen pics in surgery waiting rooms, and enjoyed them. I don’t think that I’d really like to see a pic of a half nekkid guy in any type of medical setting. ---

Mine has a mobile on the ceiling. The only poster of a ‘naked’ person is that of a breastfeeding mom, and still, you can only see just a sliver of skin. The rest are of the ‘illustration of a plastic split-in-half woman that shows her internal organs’. What is it with some men and their fantasies about pelvic examination? ---

I just thought it was funny, and I felt like I was taking it in exactly the spirit it was intended. But then again, pictures of beefcake don’t generally get me anywhere near turned on - to my understanding it’s generally not a girl thing. I took that as a given. I feel like if anyone actually thought a girl would get turned on by that poster, it would indeed have been creepy. But I didn’t, so it wasn’t. And the thought of a man getting hot and bothered by imagining a girl on the table getting all Penthouse Forum? THAT never occurred to me. THAT is creepy, gross and offensive. Bleagh. Maybe I feel safe in the sterile, professional, cheery medical-ness of the environment. I’d never on my own have thought of any of it being part of anyone’s sexy fantasy. Probably I’m naive to think a snort, giggle and eyeroll would suffice where others would dive headlong into spiralling chasms of vertiginous trauma, eh? ---

Ew. My OB/GYN has little cartoon postcards of happy mommies, a little mobile of hearts and hands, and chintz oven mitts on the stirrups. My orthodontist used to have bumperstickers that said, “Are we having fun yet?” Those are burned into my brain after 3 years of braces… ---

No half naked men. . . that’s just EWWW. There are few things less sexy than a pelvic exam. My doc has a comic above the table, from _The Far Side_ or something. It shows two camels staring at another camel’s humps and whipering “They’re not real!”. I laughed out loud the first time I saw it. ---
