I can’t say I don’t feel a little sadness for you, going though life in fear like that. Satan, as a character, wasn’t as bad as god in many ways. He gave us knowledge and didn’t kill as many people, right? I mean, it’s one of those stories where you’d like to hear the other side of. ---

Well, fear is a real thing. I’ve been nearly dead many times. The last 6 weeks probably 4 times. Being that close to buying the farm does things to your mental equilibrium. I can’t help it. Y’all wanna play with it for shock value or funzies, I’m totally ok with it. They want statues on the statehouse lawn at Christmas that’s their right, I guess. I have a visceral fear of a Satanic being and probably a God of any kind. I’ll be dead so I guess it won’t really matter. ---

Canonically, Satan appears in the Torah all of once- in the Book Of Job. There is debate over whether it’s a proper noun or could just be replaced with ‘prosecuting angel’. What side? What story? ---

Well, ok. Seems to me like they did it in Arkansas. A couple years ago. I don’t know what exact group it was but they insisted, brought a lawsuit, and as it’s their right they won the lawsuit and put something up. ETA- I looked on Google, that may not be true. It’s on private property or something. ---

What they really want is no reigious statues or religious ornaments on government property. They put up Baphomet statues to make a point. ---

Really? I see the radiant crossses that get attached to city street lights by city workers with city dollars every Christmas and I feel pissed off. I’ve complained about this often on this very board. ETA And I’d be MUCH happier if our money said In Cthulhu We Trust. ---

The work they do to highlight what the first amendment **actually** means is incredibly important, and the importance of that work explicitly relies on them having shitty branding. If everybody on the religious right was like, “oh sure, throw up a pentagram or whatever, those satanists are just joshing around,” **that** would be a branding problem. ---

It’s all well and good to have rights. Until they compromise mine. I’d like the right to have a restful and peaceful death. I’d like a friendly place to go. My right to this is just as important as the separation of church and state. I think all the amendments are important. But no one’s rights should dismiss mine. A cross lit up on a light pole isn’t religious. That’s to get people in the mood to spend that green piece of paper with “in god we trust” printed on it. I ain’t gonna get worked up about it. The money and Christmas decorations have been around quite a few years. The Constitution still stands. Now. I don’t think these things are what’s gonna bring it down. At. All. We have larger issues to fix. Words on money isn’t that big. ---

It’s a silly ornament. In my town it’s snowflakes. It doesn’t snow here often. I don’t worship the God of Ice and Snow when I see them. I laugh cause they’re so old half don’t light up anymore. It’s just a ornament. Just like an ornament on a Christmas tree. The god of glass balls doesn’t move me to pray to it. ---
