And I’ve noticed in my visits to NYC that guys there tend to be downright Darwinian in the survival of the buffest. But come to DC, and you’ll see that gay men here clearly don’t eat well (or dress well, for that matter). We have lots of sloppy, out-of-shape guys in our gay community. ---

I was gonna post how I never cook - it’s either restaurant’s or soup and sandwiches. I can cook, I just prefer to spend my free time doing other things. Hmmm. I’m a straight guy who prides himself on cooking. I can only recall one gay housemate I’ve ever had–well, I lived with two lesbians once, but I don’t remember their cooking habits. The gay man I lived with was also a phenomenal cook, and we traded secrets. My guess is that the stereotype about gay cookery actually comes from the vague idea that gay men, having the feminine trait of being attracted to guys, must have other feminine traits too, like following the latest clothes fashions and knowing how to cook. It strikes me as pretty silly, almost as silly as a “poor beleaguered white guys!” attempt at a hijack in a thread like this would be. Daniel ---

Gay here, for vittles it depends on my mood and the time I’ve got… sometimes I just have a protein shake, or a Lean Cuisine, tonight I’m making Pra Ram Long Song (chicken with a peanut curry sauce served over spinach). I’ve got a tiny kitchen and no dishwasher, so I usually don’t do anything too elaborate. ---

Just to do some stereotype busting–my oldest friend (I’ve known him since I was seven) is gay. He subsists on a diet of tortillas, ramen, and jalepeño silces. Also some pasta and fruit nectar. He’s skinny as a rail. He also called me yesterday because the laundry machine didn’t work. He’d tried to tape the quarters to get free laundry. This was under the influence of a suitable amount of cheap vodka, drunk straight. I’m pretty sure that shatters it, right there. I tell you if he were _anyone_ else… ---
