-Syracuse became the orangemen after changing their colors (and kept that name regardless of citrus fruit, trojan, warrior, etc. as the logo)- that link explains the history of the warrior up til today’s otto the orange  
-Too bad SU couldn’t hold off complaints from native americans like FSU seminoles or the cleveland indians did- the spear wielding native is just a little more intimidating then my source for vitamin c
