> And this is something an English or any other football/soccer fan will never be able to comprehend…you Americans are so damn fickle when it comes to sports allegiances.
>
> How you can simply abandon one team for another is beyond our ken 😕
>
> I’ve been a Manchester City fan since I was knee high to a grasshopper, nothing and nobody could ever make me “abandon” MY team for another.
>
> That I say without fear of contradiction but I have to add that **some** of us do have a second favourite team, in my case it’s Rochdale of division 2 of the football league.
>
> It’s Rochdale for no other reason than the fact that I lived in that town for almost 15 years. If City were ever to play Rochdale my whole support would be for City

For the record I am actually British.

I felt I could change allegiance as, frankly, American Football isn’t a sport I really care about. I enjoyed it in the 80s when it had a brief period of popularity in the UK, but apart from that it has been something I’d enjoy if it was on the box, I had nothing else to do etc. The Cowboys was less an allegiance and more a choice made at the time to make things more interesting.

When it comes to sport I love then clearly I can’t change allegiance. I’m a Coventry City fan through and through. God knows, we’ve had little to cheer about in the last 15 years or so but I stuck with them. Even after moving to Sweden I lie on the sofa every Saturday afternoon and listen to their game over the internet.

You have much in common with a friend of mine who emigrated to NZ over 20 years ago.

He’s also a Sky Blues fan and has match programmes mailed to his home in NZ every week or so, must have cost him a fortune over the last 20+ years but he’s not fussed.

He’s a Coventry fan until the day he pegs out
