Do we still "type"?

When my kids were in school in the late eighties, they started calling the class ‘keyboarding’ and stated that it was because boys would avoid taking a class called typing. 'Cause that was for girls and all.

I have no clue whether the stigma has lifted. That was Davis CA, BTW.

The day I use keyboard as a verb is the day I want someone to shoot me right between the eyes.

You can go to websites even today dedicated to Keyboarding Practice; apparently this abominable terminology has not completely died out.

How about “printer”? Mine doesn’t print at all, it just sprays ink. And I have no idea why that form of basic handwriting was ever called “printing” (vs cursive) at all. And how about the common use of “manuscript” these days? Hardly any of them are handwritten!
