My girlfriend is obsessed with cookies, ice cream, cakes, chocolate, candy, and other desserts, as are her mother and most of her friends. I’m the typical guy in that I crave burgers, cheese, chili, nachos, barbecue, potato chips, and other more fatty/salty/savory/spicy foods. ---

My preference is for savoury foods - crackers, cheese, crisps, fries, burgers, steak. Protein. Carbs. Salt. Fat. I get cravings for sweet, but a lot less. Whereas I could eat chips all day until I felt ill, it will usually only take a small chocolate bar or a piece of cake to get me over any sweet cravings I may have. Me = Chixx0r ---

Husband has dessert every evening - I very rarely do. He’s the one that buys the candy, most of the cookies, and all of the ice cream. ---

This stereotype fits my wife and I. I wouldn’t freak if I was told I’d never have some boring pastry again, she wouldn’t freak if she were told she would never have an order of beef- and-cheese nacho goodness. ---

I don’t know. I definitely have a sweet tooth. On the other hand, I do usually crave protein _first_. Only after that desire is sated do I hunt for sweets. My guess: Most men are more muscular than most women. Maintaining muscle mass requires protein. Thus, men’s bodies prioritize things like meat. We still crave sweets, but that craving isn’t given priority by the hormones / magical chemical signals that make us hungry. Unlike men’s bodies, women’s bodies do not send “Quick! Find bacon!” signals. Thus, other signals are bumped up the priority chain. For example, “Quick! Find chocolate!” and the common female temperature function: ```auto boolean isItColdInHere( double t ) { double temp = t; /* Ignore */ return true; } ``` ---

When I was young, I craved sweets. Sugar by the spoonful, chocolate, cookies, cakes, etc. Now I can’t stand that food. I want spicy, savory food. Garlic, chili peppers, onions, etc. I might have a tiny bit of candy or sweets once a year or so, but it leaves me feeling so irritable and grouchy that it’s just not worth it. One little fun-size chocolate candy makes me miserable for 4-5 hours. A plate of spicy nachos, or Buffalo wings, however, makes me happy for the rest of the day. ---

My parents both liked sweets, but I never did. I like some ice creams and some desserts, but I rarely crave them and I never make a habit of buying or eating them. I prefer salty snacks, like beef jerky or cheese, BBQ, or ranch/sour cream crunchy things. My BF seems to be a useless data point as he likes food. Any food. ---

Female here, and a meal to me contains savory with meat and starch, and then a sweet. But I don’t usually crave the sweet directly and would choose more filling food in the savory range if hungry and presented with the options. ---

I went through a six month drought once. When I finally did have sex again, a friend I’d met shortly after I’d broken up with my last girlfriend said, “You know, you’re actually kind of nice now. I’d thought you were just a bit of an asshole and negative all the time, but I guess you just need some pussy every once in a while to keep you from being such a dick.” I noticed that I start getting more aggressive and am more easily aggravated if I don’t have sex at least once a week. I didn’t get to see my wife for about two weeks recently. I snapped at a co-worker for doing nothing more annoying than usual, and worked out harder (judging by my completion times) than I usually do. That, and one of the women I work with was looking way more boneable than I usually think she is. Not that I’d cheat on my wife, much less actually sleep with someone I work with, but my thinking about her that way was slightly out of the norm. Uh, obviously I’m a guy, and I couldn’t care less about dessert. It’s rare that I’ll actually crave sweets. Mostly happens after a heavy workout, and not even then most of the time. My wife, on the other hand, will deliberately not finish dinner in order to leave room for cake, ice cream, chocolate, etc. I blame her for my putting on a couple of kilos since we got married. She plans desserts for almost all meals, even if it’s something relatively “good for you” like fruit and yoghurt with some honey drizzle. ---

I’ll bake a chocolate cake, eat one piece, and throw the rest away a week later. Repeat in six to eight months. My normal reaction to sweets usually ranges from ‘meh’, to ‘that’s nauseating’. Guy. ---
