Trump’s health has been in the news. Any one that’s seen recent photos can see the weight gain and his stooped shoulders. His hands often have bruises. Maybe from IV’s or blood work? What would a Vance Presidency look like? I know he’s very conservative. But, would most of the crazy shit end? Would he be more circumspect in public statements? Would the public attacks on Canada end? Please, take some time and consider the differences in Vance. He’s much, much younger. Grew up in rural poverty. Has very strong family ties with his young children. I haven’t seen any sign of Trump’s bat shit craziness in Vance. How about it? Would JD be a better, more rational President compared to Trump? ---

It would still be terrible and sliding toward fascism, but it would be more “normal” because Trump is a stupid, ignorant malignant narcissist with dementia and _way_ over to one side of the bell curve in terms of rationality and mental competence. Someone can be an evil idiot and still not be _as much of_ an evil idiot as Trump. ---

Yes. Obviously. Vance is very much a fascist, but he’s not an insane moron like Trump. Bare minimum he puts on a normal face until he can win in 2028. ---

Trump has aged a lot in the last two years. He seems like a prime candidate for a stroke or heart condition. He flies International a lot and that can lead to a pulmonary embolism (PE). Vance is inexperienced. He was only a Senator from January 3, 2023 – January 10, 2025. That’s a concern if it becomes necessary to replace Trump. I’d be relieved if Vance was similar to George W Bush. That’s a pretty low bar. 😉 ---

It could hardly be less normal than Trump. I think Vance is more driven by power than avarice, and less likely to say one thing, then turn around and do the opposite while expecting his base to go along with it. I might describe it as Nixonian. Whether that’s more normal is debatable, but at least the Republic survived Nixon. ---

Vance is smarter and more stable than Trump — which, like someone said upthread, is a pretty low bar, but, y’know, it still seems worth saying. What does he personally believe? I have no idea. ---

Couchboy is aligned with the same basic agenda as Felon-ONE, which is essentially to turn the country into a mess for the benefit of disaster capitalists. But, without the narcissism handicap, he might be able to slide more hideous damage under the radar. We mostly would like to see an end to Felon-ONE’s reign, but the alternative could end up being worse. ---

I think Vance is just as bad, if not worse. He’s not insane, but he’s evil. Pure evil. Fully bought and paid for by Thiel and anyone else who’ll give him money or power. He’s done some heinous things already, just to prove he’s a team player. He admitted he was lying about Haitians eating the dogs and the cats, people from his own state he was supposed to be representing, “so that people would pay attention”, as though that was a justifiable reason to incite mob violence against a group of Black immigrants. He was the only one of trump’s group who thought invading Iran was wrong, and he did nothing. Evil. ---

A Vance presidency would be slightly more normal and slightly less cringeworthy, but still almost as bad. In fact, an idiot like Trump can occasionally be fooled into doing the right thing. A principled bad guy like Vance can’t be persuaded that easily into doing good.
