Let’s face it. Sometimes people get right in your face on these boards and I was wondering do they act like that in real life(or face to face) to? Also I wonder when they get hacked off are they just acting like they are hacked or are they really hacked off? I mean on these boards size(physical) doesn’t matter only intellect and the ability to joust verbally(notice how I didn’t put grammer in the equation 😉 ). So I was wondering what people act this same on a face to face basis and what people tone down or up for that matter on a face to face debate? And if you don’t do you get in many fights? You know the black eye kind? Just wondering. ---

I think that the board helped me learn to debate verbally. In most circumstances, I would be much more apt to, say, break a table over someone’s head versus telling them that I think they are a butt sniffing gerbil squicker. The boards have made me a kinder, gentler Brian. Hooray! ---

I think I’m funnier IRL. I’m pretty good at the sarcasm, dry wit thing, but it never really comes across well in writing. I either just try to act nice & polite, or I say what I’d say IRL and sound like a bitch. Oh well. ---

Like C3, I’m much more sarcstic and dry witted IRL. But that doesn’t come across very well in writing, so I really try to tone that down. The rest of it carries across pretty much the same here as it does IRL. (i.e. _major_ flake) ---

i got in a conversation once about whether the moon landing actually occured, i said it did. this man said it was technologically impossible. so i asked him if he had a TV. of course he did. i asked him to expalain how the television worked. he started saying how to operate the tv. i said no, explain the electronic functioning of the tv, what is electricity. he couldn’t come up with anything. so i asked how can you say getting to the moon is technologically impossible when you don’t know how technology in your house works? he got mad and stood up as though to do something, so i stood up. i’m 6’ 1" and he chose to let it slide. dummies can be a pain in the ass. this was 20+ years ago and i don’t bother with dummies in real space. they are easy to ignore on the internet. i’m proud of being called an idiot by some people. i’m up to 3 so far. I’m a lot less “there” IRL. I don’t really talk a whole lot. I’m a lot less bubbly. (Do I seem bubbly here? I think I do.) I don’t flirt IRL. I don’t avoid confrontation IRL like I do online. I probably act and seem more my age IRL, although people I’ve met think I’m older too, so I’m not so sure about that one. I’m cuter online than I am IRL. 😉 I think that’s about it. ---

I’m not sure if I’m much different IRL as I am here. I know on the board I seem less likely to land a joke than IRL–for some reason I can always think of a good “punchline” only after I’ve logged off. Also, it’s a lot easier for me to read the mood of a conversation IRL–I’ve completely missed it sometimes here. On the other hand, I’m a lot less likely to “respond” by saying, “yeah, yeah” on the board. So, when I post here, at least I’ve been reading what’s been written. ---

I’m less aggressive in real life. Depending on whether I’m manic or depressive for the month, I’ll either be very figity and talkative, or very quiet and withdrawn, IRL, whereas on here, I’m relatively stable. Alot of my IRL jokes don’t come off very well (too intelligent, usually), so I guess I’m funnier on here. I get mad on here alot quicker than IRL, and I’m MUCH more personal on the boards than I’d ever be IRL. IRL, no one cares enough for me to tell them anything about myself, but here, I feel like I can and someone, somewhere, gives a damn. –Tim ---
