What would be my “fault?” Did you read the last part of what I wrote? When you go to step on ants and they run around, it isn’t because they are “running scared” or are desperate for their lives. That would imply sentience, and then there would maybe some nexus of logic behind your disapproval.
But that that isn’t what is going on. When I plant my sneaker on an ant mound in my driveway, all that the ants see is some some huge, long white thing in their way that wasn’t there before. It’s just some giant alien object that moved fast and because the ground tremored, they erratically change directions and give the appearance of being panicked, but they still don’t comprehend it as deadly or dangerous. That’s the level of perception we’re dealing with here. They don’t know and they don’t care.
