I love 'em, 99% of the time. Every once in a while I feel it’s a chore but it’s a very rare day.

Either that, or I’ve been in some really crappy designed showers.

The difference between shutting your eyes and what I am dealing with is that you can always open your eyes if you feel a need to do so. If I open my eyes I still can’t effectively see anything.

My own shower is, as noted, not too bad. Showers I am unfamiliar with are little anxiety booths.

I grew up in a household of 7 people and one bathroom. We learned to master the 5-minute shower, lest we face the Wrath of Mom[sup]TM[/sup] and use up all the hot water. I can’t just hang out in the shower - it’s not a matter of like or not, altho I voted Like.

On rare occasions I’ll stand in a hot or cool shower to counter the effects of weather extremes, and sometimes when I feel sick, a hot shower does help, but for the most part, a shower is for getting clean - in, lather, rinse, out.

My spousal unit, on the other hand, will get in there and just stand under the water forever…

The presence of this thread right next to The Golden Rule is making me think of a particular type of shower that I wouldn’t want to take.

I love showers. Even when it’s ‘gotta hustle through the shower, or I’ll be late for work’ it’s still very enjoyable.

We stayed at a place last summer that had an outdoor shower enclosure. That was da bomb. If I ever get to build my dream house, it’ll have one of those.

I wonder if there is a male-female split here.

The thing that bugs me about showers is the sheer amount of tedious stuff I have to do in them- wet the hair, shampoo the hair, rinse the hair, condition the hair, rinse the hair again, soap up, shave this, shave that, shave the other thing…day after day after day forever.

Goodness, even thinking about it is boring me.

^^ 😛 (at drew)

I love showers. I like the way the hot water feels streaming over my body. When I was young we only had tubs and after my bath I’d have to let the tub drain (while shivering) then kneel on the hard porcelain with my head under the faucet in order to wash my hair. Not pleasant.

I wish we had an outdoor shower. Hearing the birds, seeing the leaves…I’d use it all the time.

As long it’s in the bathtub and the shower curtain is drawn, I see no harm.

> I’m HUGE, both tall and fat. Not Andre the Giant size, but close. It’s virtually impossible for me to fit in a bathtub, so shower is my remaining option. Your average shower is, to me, cramped and uncomfortable, and I’ve never been in one where the showerhead sprayed above my chest. This means if I want to wash my face I have to bend over, and if I want to wash my hair I have to bend over backwards… in a cramped sarcophagus, slippery with soap, with a shower curtain plastered to one or another side of my body. In my own home (apartment) I can make some adjustments ([Shower Hose](http://www.freeexistence.org/highflow/dethead.jpg), weighted curtain duct-taped to the wall, etc) but in someone else’s home, or a hotel (at least, a hotel I can afford) or elsewhere, ugh. Hate, hate, hate it.
>
> Best showers I’ve ever taken were after coming home from the beach, using a kiddie wading pool and the garden hose in the backyard… bliss!

If you own your own home, you should consider having the tub removed, and the shower space expanded a bit. Also, having the shower head raised to a comfortable height. We had our tub/shower in our last home converted to a walk-in shower and loved it. Didn’t cost all that much, either. Barring that, you can have a plumber remove the shower gooseneck, put in a short piece of straight pipe, attach a 90 degree fitting on the end (pointing up), then another short piece of pipe to that, another 90 pointing into the shower, and finally attach a gooseneck and head to that. That would give you the additional height you need and would probably only set you back an hour’s labor and parts.

Showers are annoying and effete. Instead of faffing around like a toddler under a hose, just take a bath already.

I’m kinda meh about them. I don’t find them enjoyable but I don’t hate them either. It’s really more of an annoying chore for me. I usually hover around a shower every other day. However, if my depression starts acting up I can go longer than that and have to really force myself to take one.

I like showers but I hate getting out of them. I hate that my stupid thick hair is now all wet and will be for the next many hours. I hate when the hot water runs out before I’m done (usually when I have to shave my legs). I hate when I’ve gone in to the shower and forgotten that I’m out of soap or shampoo or something and now what?

I really dislike when it’s leg shaving time in the shower. I’m much happier to do it if I don’t have to shave. Unfortunately in the summer I gotta shave like every other shower. Ugh.

I take long showers in hotels, and use all their lovely hot water.

Soaking in one’s own filth is not my idea of fun or relaxing. On the few occasions that I’ve taken a bath as an adult, I always have to shower afterward to get the soap scum and debris off so I feel clean.

If the water is hot then it’s luxuriously relaxing.
If the water is merely warm then it’s all business, and if that business is shaving then business is bad.
I’ve done cold showers. In summer it can be nice, if short. Otherwise it’s an exercise of mind over matter. I didn’t even need the Gom Jabbar.

Showers are in the same category of likes as teeth brushing. Do I look forward to them? No, unless I’m unusually dirty. But is showering an experience that I hate or dread? No, unless I’m very tired and don’t feel like doing anything except sit on my ass.

Showers are such a godawful experience that I will go months without them, until the groaning of family members and notices from HR become too much to ignore.🆒

Actually, showers are OK, but the real Shower Experience is when I’ve been working in the garden, am hot and sweaty, and a cool shower coming down on my overheated skull (the likes of which would be intolerable during the winter) is Nirvana.

I voted “Have no feelings,” but that’s not quite accurate. I’m capable of luxuriating during the showering process, but when I do it’s because I’m not alone in there. Most of the time I’m just trying to get clean. And when I do want to luxuriate alone, I take a bath.

I like the feeling of the hot water on my neck and shoulders.

Taking a bath means sitting in dirty water - no, thank you. Unless of course I take a shower first, so I’m clean; then I’m willing to sit in the tub and relax and read for a while. But my knees would object too strenuously if I tried to sit in a tub now, and even more so when I tried to stand up again, so it’s a moot point.

Just don’t ask me to take a submarine shower. Done quite enough of those, thank you…

> Oh god I love me some showering. So much so that in our last house we built a shower 8’ x 5’ with two shower heads and a couple of body sprays. Our newest shower only has two shower heads and fits in a standard US bathtub footprint, but the outdoor one is 8’ x 6’. I used to shower until the two 50 tank hot water heaters were empty. I now limit my self to only one 30 gallon tank. 🆒 Does anyone love showering more than me?

Preach it! The person who had my house before me knew what she was doing when it came to bathing, IMHO.

In the master bath there is a huge spa-type bathtub for when I feel like a soak and the guest bathroom has three shower heads. There’s one on each end of the shower and then a [rainshower](http://ab.pbimgs.com/pbimgs/ab/images/dp/wcm/201319/0147/img68o.jpg) shower head above. Heavenly.
