Or do you just let them get dripped on? I figure, there’s soap on that water, it’ll be OK. Unless there’s any visible grunge there, I don’t make the effort to bend over in the shower. I seem to remember a comedian’s routine about this, but I can’t come up with it right now. Regardless, I want to know. Is the SDMB scrubbing its feet? ---

I wash my tootsies every time. I lather them up one at a time and give them their own little morning foot massage. Hey, they carry me around all day, I might as well be nice to them! ---

Yep. Wash them and give them a little massage with my pumice stone thingie. If I didn’t, I’d have feet like a cavewoman. I’m always either barefoot or in sandals. ---

I let the water back up in the bathtub drain while I’m showering, so they’re not only getting dripped on, they’re marinating in a warm sudsy pool of used shampoo and Ivory. Them feet and them ankles are probably the cleanest part of me. ---

Usually, I just give 'em a quick swipe while I’m working my way down my legs, but if I’ve been outside shoeless or doing really grubby work, I’ll scrub 'em up good. ---

I wash my feet and clean between the toes. Then I use a pumice stone on my heels. ---

My Fiance does constantly. She’s used to wearing sandals all the time, so she usually washes her after every extended trip outside. Well now that she is here in the states and she wears shoes, the habit still remains. ---

I’m with you stoli. No bending/washing. They get most of the soap and water just being there on the floor of the tub. ---

I wash them, but I dont go out of my way to wash them. Ijust bend down and go over them once with the soap. ---

This seems to mostly be dividing on gender lines, I am guessing. I never knew a guy that owned a pumice stone, or at least one that would admit to it. I’d say I wash my feet about 50% of the time. I play soccer and other sports and definitely scrub them down after these, only infrequently at other times. I attribute this to the difficulty of getting down to wash them while standing in a shower and then not busting my ass when I try to stand on my now slippery foot whilst I lather the next one. ---

I can probably count on my fingers the number of times I have actually washed my feet. Like others have said, they get plenty wet and soapy just by being attached to my body. I have a very scripted routine for showering - sometimes I don’t even remember if I’ve washed yet or not. So if something isn’t in my routine, it isn’t likely it will be attended to. ---

Well, I have the World’s Worst Soles®, and I’m well aware that they deserve a good pumice stoning (or perhaps an industrial sandblast job). However, being possessed of the Y chromosome, I am not permitted to possess the scrubby lava 😃 I do, however, make an effort to wash them well, and between my toes also, for between the toes is not a place to desire cracked skin whilst they toil their day away in the damp prison of work shoes. Cracked skin invites entry of things, and the resultant war between those things and the things that belong inside the skin has a tendency to result in unacceptable civilian casualties when exposed to the atmosphere of the battleground. Unless my feet are seriously caked in thick red clay mud, I never wash my feet. And I go barefoot outside all the time, so my feet are constrantly getting dirty. I just never think to activly wash them. It’s not uncommon for foot dirt to stay on my skin for several days, through several showerings, because I never remember to scrub my feetsies. BUT, I want to make it clear that my feet don’t smell. That’s good dirt on them. Mud-dirt, dust-dirt. No skanky sweat-dirt. My feet only smell if I’ve worn enclosed shoes for an extended period of time, which I try not to do. And I CERTAINLY don’t pumice them. Why, that would get rid of the nice thick callouses that have taken me so long to build up! I can step barefoot on broken glass and not get cut. It’s a good thing. And, yes, I am a dirty hippie. How did you know? ---

If my feet get dirty, I wash them in the bathroom or kitchen sink. I stand on one foot and then lather, scrub, and rinse the other and then switch. ---

I wore flip flops everyday this summer, and my feet were nasty. now i’m obsessed with clean feet, wash and scrub them constantly, okay, that’s an exaggeration, but definitely daily. why DO flip flops make your feet black? ---

You know, **lee** , now that I think of it, I do the sink thing too, when they’re really dirty. I think I am also afraid, as **ShibbOleth** indicated, of “busting my ass” while trying to get my hands all the way down to my feet in the shower. What in the name of all that is holy is a pumice stone? ---
