I just can’t do it, never felt OK with it. If I suddenly realize the cat is in the room instant deflation is the result. Same deal with lovemaking, my wife and I exclude all animals from the room before we make the beast with two backs. With a dog this makes sense as they are sure to want to join in the fun but with cats, who have no damned interest at all in what the dumb humans are doing, it’s harder to rationalize. Creatures like goldfish I’ll give a pass to but I did know a girl who would insist on covering up her canary before the sport could commence. In case it upset him! So is it weird that I don’t want animals watching me when I jack off or screw or is this normal? ---

Neither my wife nor I have any problem doing the deed, solo or together, with the dog in the room. She (the dog) just hangs out on her bed and naps. ---

You think cats won’t want to get involved? Try turning on a vibrator. My cats want to investigate immediately. No, I absolutely cannot do this. Whether they care or not… Any reminder of animals is very unsexy. Also I remember someone on this board telling the tale of getting a surprise cold dog nose on his scrotum mid coitus. Experience has taught us that the cats are best tossed out from the room, because they are nosy little brats and will investigate things at the worst possible moment. The dogs don’t seem to care. They have important napping to be done. To answer the question, no, the mere presence of pets is not off putting. ---

My opinion and experience is the same as Sunny Daze & Spice Weasel. I have 2 cats. One who wants to sit on top of anybody or anything that makes a lump under the covers, and another one who wants to chase and stalk anything that moves under the covers. Masturbating is always done in the pitch dark. Partner sex is always done with the lights on or in candle or firelight. The cats are banished for both. ---

It would depend on the pet’s behavior. If the dog or cat was willing to ignore me/us, I’d be fine. If they wanted to get involved, they would need to leave. Although when I first got married I had a cat that used to like to knead my pillow and then sit on my hair (I had long hair in those days). She occasionally did this while there were other activities happening. We either just laughed, or if it was a problem we shooed her off the bed. ---
