# Do you get irrationally irritated by accents / voice traits?

I have relatives (heck, my sister’s whole side of the family, so a dozen people in 3 generations) who all pronounce Don as “Dawn”. It’s a problem… my sister was raised by a Don, married a Don, and her dear friend who’s always around is a Dawn.

How do you get Itch… oh, pronouncing the ch like cheese… what about echo, would you say “ETCH-o”? How do you pronounce ache, or stomach?

Wait, just realized there’s a bigger issue here. Your girlfriend, who I assume you care about, gets annoyed… and you keep doing it?\*

Or, are you powerless to change? Anyone else here, is there a “wrong” or grating pronunciation or word choice that you’d like to change but you just can’t?

\*Though, if you secretly like pissing her off, you might be husband material…  
(ok, maybe eventually-an-ex-husband)

I have a flat effect due to my mental illness. I hate hearing recordings of myself. There was one girl in grade school who expressed in no uncertain terms how she hated hearing me talk, well within earshot of the teacher; on one hand I agree with her, but on the other if the roles had been reversed I’d’ve been in the principal’s office my eyeballs would be in the back of my skull.

Fuck everyone.
