This year I am giving gift cards to brother and his fam and to some friends. Neighbors are getting poinsettias, mom is getting a 1935 edition Monopoly game, and my SDMB giftee is getting…well, what she asked for in that thread. I am giving myself an aromatherapy full body massage at the spa and a Demotivators calendar from [Despair.com](http://Despair.com). How many of you give yourself something? ---

The only time is when it is related to something I’m giving my wife, so telling her about it would give away a bigger present. I did it once, but I can’t remember what it is. On the other hand, we often point out stuff to each other when we’re out shopping, so some presents aren’t surprises. ---

I recently bought a Canon Rebel XTi from Amazon, and my wife tells me it’s my Christmas Present. With that policy in mind, I’m thinking about buying a Ferrari in January. I’m a now a convert to doing my Christmas shopping early. 😃 ---

My gifts for myself: Permission to not have to buy stuff for other people. I usually spend way too much on gifts. I always get wrapped up in that whole, ‘‘If I don’t get the perfect present they won’t think I love them’’ thing. I’m talking $5 gift bags, presents wrapped perfectly, everything had to be perfect. I finally just let it go this year. We really don’t have much extra cash. It’s not the end of the world. Also, I am gifting myself a very expensive and personal sort of therapy this month (EMDR.) It’s been a long time coming. So this Christmas I am giving myself a new direction in life. I’ve felt more optimistic before, but I’ve never felt so _authentically_ content with everything just as it is. ---

The only time I ever gave myself a Christmas present was the time I gave my cats a LitterMate litter box. I do give myself a birthday present every year, though. ---

Whenever I go shopping for Christmas presents, I wander around the mall thinking “I have no idea what [this person] would want. This? Nah. This? No. But I’d love that… and one of those… and that, but in purple…” So to reward myself for finally finishing my shopping for other people, I get myself something(s). But usually during the week after Christmas when things are cheaper. ---

I’m like **DianaG**. I shop and end up with as much stuff for me as I do for them. The **Wife** is incredibly predictable in buying my gifts, and I never even come close to stepping on her toes there. And the **Kid** and I have a mutual gift-giving agreement which says that each not only knows what the other will be buying, but will often in fact help pick it out. ---

I always remember me at xmas, my BD, St Patrick’s Day, Halloween, etc. 😃 This year my gf and I are spending two weeks in St Martin, my xmas gift to me. Not sure if I was naughty or nice.😉 ---

Sometimes, if there’s something I really, really want that’s a tad more extravagant than an armful of books or a couple of DVDs. Several years ago, I got myself a heavy silver bracelet in the shape of a Mobius strip, which I never take off. ---

Not as such, but when people ask me what I want and I get to thinking about it, there are a couple of things that I don’t expect to actually receive, so I’ll likely just pick those up myself. So far, I’ll be getting the new King book, due out in January, and a cat tunnel for my kitties to play in. ---

Mostly, I just pick out something that I really want, run it by the kids, and tell them it’s their present to me. It all comes out of my pocket anyway. This year, I do believe they’re getting mama a Hi-Lift jack. Good kids! ---
