I was in the first few thousand joiners (March 2004 at the first school after Harvard) and it was great for the first 2-3 years. Fast moving, informative, people actually used it. But as they expanded to pictures and all people and just reposting and posting of article links without any personal opining, the utility and interest waned quickly.
