I still only ever count this way when reading a list of numbers. And if it’s exactly 12, I do the dooo-dewey-dewey-do-doo-dewey-dewey-do-dewey-do thing at the end.
Also, if the topic of sugar beets comes up (surprisingly often), I never don’t sing the sugar beet song to myself.
Ma-na-ma-na.
Ladybugs Twelve, at the Ladybug Picnic.
Duck! Rubber duck duck Rubber duck duck duck! (Not the same as “Rubber Ducky”, OR the equally great Saxaphone song!)
Amazing beautiful creatures dancing enchanted forest glade. … (ABCDEFG… with Kermit and the wonderful Ladysmith Black Mazambo)
You can spend all day wrapped up in Sesame Street song videos on YouTube. ALL DAY.
“Lowercase N” has always been my favourite, but the list goes on forever, from popular classics like the “Two Little Girls And A Little Doll House”, to the obscure weird ones like “Rebel L” or “One Way”, and the cute silly Joe Raposo hits like “It Takes A Lot Of Little Nuts To Make A Jar Of Peanut Butter” and “Everybody Sleeps”.
And there’s “I’m An Aardvark”, and “Oh Woe Is Me, There’s A Bird On Me”, and “All By Myself”, and the J Friends where they sing about Joe (Raposo), Jane (Henson), Jim (Henson), and Joan (Ganz Cooney). The list goes on.
Checking out Sing on YouTube lead me to What’s The Name of That Song which reminded me of One Of These Things Is Not Like The Other, which reminded me how lucky I was to have had Sesame Street as a toddler.
The two that bring up the strongest memories are the previously-mentioned Sugar Beets and Me and My Llama. But I think my favorite is probably Manamanah (do do dodododo)
Have you have looked at the unbelievable list of guest stars they’ve had over their run at this point? It is truly amazing. I mean this is probably only a partial list: List of guest stars on Sesame Street - Wikipedia
Apparently right from the first episode they had Carol Burnett, The Amazing Randi and Grace Slick.
Also, while the first Muppet version was on Sesame Street, the more famous one (using the character Mahna Mahna and the Snowths, instead of Bip Bippidotta and a couple Anything Muppets) debuted 3 days later on the Ed Sullivan show.
My brother and I used to have a few Sesame Street albums that we played over and over again. My favorite was “Bert and Ernie Sing Along” which had a premise - Bert is taking a bath and Ernie invites the entire neighborhood into the bathroom for a sing along. Hilarity ensues!
There’s a lot of great songs on there included “Sing” and “What’s the Name Of That Song?” But my favorite is “A Really Good Feeling” sung by Big Bird. It’s about loving people and how it makes you feel.
