Do you have a parent/relative in Assisted Living?

In my mother’s case, The “Aid and Attendance” benefit was for wartime service only.
The dates ran from Dec 1941 until sometime in 1947.

Like Thelma Lou said, give Google a try or call your local V.A. office.

If approved, it will take months for your first check to arrive, but it will be retroactive to the date your application was received. This fact translates to a pretty hefty first check !

Re her home… My granny widowed and sold the house (well she and the rest of the heirs), and meanwhile lived in the house (no one minded, she had lived there for 20-something years). She got married, and the furniture was distributed between the heirs and some was sold. My granny just kept very few personal belongings. Her new husband also died some years later, but most of the furniture in that house was his, so when she moved (first to her brother’s, then to assisted living), she carried little with her. She may still have some stuff at her brother’s, but most of what she has she was able to keep in her current apartment (dresser, a nice small reclining chair, some of her cups, some decorations, obviously her clothes, and she got a new bed). She is not attached to many material things, never been that type of person.
