I have an Ikea shelf system I keep my shirts/sweaters in and is about 5’ tall. Stuff that can be re-worn gets folded and set on top. I usually wear anything up there a second time pretty quickly so I don’t just wind up with a laundry pile on top. ---

I do have a “wear this again” chair, but it’s purely for the clothes that I wear around the house. In terms of the clothes I wear in public, I never wear the same clothes two days in a row, so at the end of the day all my clothes either need to be hung up or put in the laundry basket. ---

My bed is twice as big as I need it to be, so stuff to be worn again goes on the side I don’t sleep on. Sometimes putting the laundry away becomes a two-day process. Everything that goes into drawers goes away the first day and stuff to be hung up happens the next day. It’s mostly stuff that I wear over t-shirts. ---

We have a free-standing towel rack which my husband uses for the clothing he wears at home in the evening. The only thing I rewear are sweatshirts or flannel shirts. I just hang them back on a hanger and put them at the end of my shirt closet rod. I don’t like piles of clothes in the bedroom. That was something my wife had to stop doing when we moved in together. ---

My soloflex may sit dusty and underused but it is clean of clothes. The bedside chair otoh, May still have last summers shorts/ tops at the bottom of that pile. But my dressers I’m proud to say are clutter free. The floor shelf next to the bed is working out nicely. ---

I don’t like putting away clothes that I’ve worn, because i don’t want anything to sit for months worn-but-unwashed. Small amounts of skin oils don’t make clothes unwearable, but they can oxidize over time and stain the garment. The “pile of lightly worn clothes” has been working well for me. ---

Hardly noticeable on the clothes I wear around the house and most likely toss on the I-can-wear-this-again ottoman or couch, and possibly leave there for quite a while. When I was still working, and occasionally had to leave my home office, I wanted to keep my few presentable clothes that fit me clean and ready to wear, so those would go right in the hamper. Trouble was that I can’t wear clothes for very long without staining them somehow. My mother insisted it was genetic and passed from father to son. ---

As far as leaving clothes on the floor: When we were first married, I’d drop my cut-offs on the floor next to the dresser. Until the day the scorpion got into them and stung my leg repeatedly until I could drop trou. She dispatched the beastie with baseball bat, which made an interesting smear on the inside of the jean shorts (a splotch with two claws at the top and a tail with stinger at the bottom). I called the hospital and asked what to do and was told to get a tetanus shot if I hadn’t had one in a while. They seemed annoyed that I had bothered them. Logical conclusion: scorpions inject “lockjaw venom.” 🤪 ---
