There’s an older crippled lady who lives down the road from me in an apartment complex. Every single day around 1pm, she hobbles down the road (a busy road with no sidewalks, mind you) by my house carrying a fully opened umbrella (no matter if it’s raining or not). Then, about two hours later, she hobbles back down the road carrying a Food Lion bag filled with groceries. It’s a good 4 mile round trip from her apartment complex to the store and she does it every single day! And ALWAYS with her umbrella. Maybe she carries it for balance? I wonder why she doesn’t ditch the umbrella and free up her hand for another bag of groceries. That way, she would only have to go every other day. There’s another guy who lives across the street who rakes his leaves and does other yard work at 3am. He scares me. ---

Rostfrei, I used to have a neighbor who raked leaves that late-and I also live in Virginia (fairfax). The scary thing is, it turned out he hadn’t paid his morgage and the police came looking for him. They showed up at my door and asked some questions, and I mentioned his late night trimmings. They didn’t think it was earthshattering, so I let it go. If it’s any help, he was an older guy and was married… ---

Right next door there are three old ladies that live in a teeny tiny little house. Each of them takes up at least an entire room. Add to that their numerous grandkids that come to stay and you’ve got a pretty packed house. Not that that’s weird in and of itself, but they’ve got **twelve** chihuahas. I don’t know where they hide them, or how they (the chihuahas) manage to survive. Every morning and evening they will open the door and out comes a little chihuaha parade. It’s quite amusing. I think though, one day I shall have to let my german sheperds eat them. (the chihuahas, not the old ladies) ---

I live in a pretty rural setting, but when my husband and I drive through town on the way home from work, this guy occasionally walks by. He wears high-heeled cowboy boots and he TUCKS HIS JEANS INTO THEM! AAAAAAAAHHHH! And he just walks around town thinkin’ he’s the bomb with his big cowboy boots (they’re knee-high). He sort of reminds me of Jon Voight in Midnight Cowboy or something. ---

When I was growing up, there was an old man in town who made candy and sold it out of his basement. While he was a perfectly nice and normal person, the whole thing could be looked at as kind of creepy. ---

dear lord… yes there are… Ok my neighbor… works on his lawn everyday… I think thats all he does… but the best part is when I go home for lunch(12:00) I will see him lying down and pulling weeds with a tweezer… I will get home at 4:30 maybe 5:00 and he is still there and has progressed a few feet maybe… he is insane… I also live a couple miles away from a JESP house… I don’t know exactly what it stands for… but in short… it is a home for retarted jewish people… that is always a fun group… It is great… the women all want to have sex with everyone, and the men all want to beat people up… ---

Strange people? Of course not. I live in _Brooklyn_. Well…there ARE those nice old Brewster sisters down the block…their nephew Teddy sometimes blows his bugle during the night. I’ll have to go down and talk to them about it, maybe have a nice glass of elderberry wine. ---

I’m sure my neighbours would say it’s me, but I think differently. I do have one strange character, big, unshaven, winter clothes in the summer, and he walks around alone pretty much all day. He appears harmless, although, he does make me uncomfortable if I’m walking alone. ---

There is a lady who lives nearby who has to be 125 years old by the looks of her, all skin & bones. But I’m always amazed to see her in spandex shorts and a sports bra, holding on to a leashed poodle, both of them doing a brisk jog down the street. She looks like she’ll be thumbing her nose at the grim reaper for another 20 years. You go girl! I’ll feel lucky if I can still jog when I’m 40! There’s a guy who stands out front of the VP’s mansion almost every day wearing a sandwich board that says “Catholic Priests Molest Boys!”. He’s always carrying a bullhorn too, but I’ve never heard him say anything through it. For the longest time I thought he was a nut job, but in light of recent events I guess he knew something the rest of us didn’t. ---

We have Ernie, who is basically homeless and likes it that way. I do not know where he sleeps, but he rakes leaves and does other yard work to get by. There is also this older lady who keeps coming and praying to her rosary beads at a blue spruce tree down the street. She prays and bobs her head repetitively for about 20 minutes, then departs. I wonder if she is the one who leaves religious tracts and handwritten prayers stapled all over the telephone poles in our neighborhood. ---
