I’ve toyed with the idea of giving my family all my usernames and passwords (or at least, the ones that I would bother leaving a death notice on) in the case of my unfortunate demise so that they can post something to the effect of: “Hi, I’m the (insert relation here) of **dotchan** to let you know that she’s passed away and won’t be participating anymore.” Then my cynical side points out that while a handful of my online mates might send condolences, the rest of the internet world at large will say: “Meh, have the world’s smallest violin” and move on. Right now I’m undecided. I mean, I don’t _expect_ to bite it anytime soon, but then, nobody expect the Spanish Inquisition, either… So what about you guys? Do you have any interesting post-death plans? (In event of a zombie apocalypse, be advised that I will be shooting you first. :D) ---

I think it depends on how active your online life is. If you are a prolific and long standing poster on any message boards then I think it is appropriate to let your cyber companions know. ---

Not here. I’m not active enough for anyone would notice I was gone (that’s not meant to sound pathetic, or as if I’m upset about it). I do have a few online friends who my real life contact details, such as my phone number and name, who’d get notified if I died. ---

My wife frequents my major internet haunts so I assume the news would travel through her. If we both went, you’ll just have to remain uninformed. ---

Sadly, yes. My brother and I are both regular members of messageboards (mine being SDMB) and we’ve already promised each other that we’d handle the announcements. Neither of us have a will or a living will, but we’ve got this bit worked out. Although, if I died tomorrow **Athena** would probably tell you about it. She’d know right away because my business partner would probably hire her as my replacement 😃 ---

I have money set aside so that my wife, son or any surviving relatives can rent a billboard for a month to announce my demise. ---

Well, I just came off a week and a half of forced absence and no one was, like, “Hey, where’s El\_Kabong?”, so I doubt that whenever I kick the bucket, I should worry too much about someone on the 'Net wondering where I went. ---

There is a service for this (there may be several actually, but I only know of this one) - [Legacy Locker](https://www.legacylocker.com/). Seems a bit pricey to me though. I have no plans. My husband might let people know here or on LJ or whatever, assuming we don’t eat it together. Otherwise, no plans, no biggie. ---
