Do you have your passport yet?

I picked mine up today. Im visiting Canada right now and it expires in March so I decided to get a new one. I had to show my flight details to get it in a week. An average two hour wait here at the passport office this week. I wish it renewed every 10 years rather than 5.

Yes but you can apply online and then when you go pick it up, you get to go into a faster line.

Me too! Well, the dip is canceled now I no longer need it, but I still have it. My tourist and Gov passes are still current.

Got my first passport at the US embassy in Munich, around '90. I was stationed in Germany with the US Army and didn’t need a passport for most things. Military orders were sufficient. But a friend of mine and I got some leave and decided to toodle around Europe a bit and it was easier with a passport. It was cool because the embassy gave same day service on passports as long as you had all the right documents with you.

I was the first person in my family to get a passport, which was kinda cool. Later my brother got one once he started getting all big and important in his field. But I was the first!

I suspect both the U.S. and Canadian passport offices have put on extra help. I applied for both in (U.S.) Thanksgiving week, and received both in late December.

For those who are curious, I hold dual citizenship.

Not quite.

(As far as I can tell you have to be logged in to read the Passport Online FAQ)

I never logged in. Is this the FAQ you’re referencing here?

We all have ours. Mine expires later this year, so I will just renew. My son’s expires next year as he is a child and it’s only good for 5 yrs. Suburban Plankton still has until 2013 on his. We’ve decided we’ll just always keep them current even when we have no international travel planned. Best to be prepared, just in case.

I’ve got 2!

No. There is one specifically for Passport Online, but I can’t seem to get to it without being logged into the service. However, something I managed to miss last night–

From here.

Ah. I misunderstood.

I have had one since I was in HS. I can’t imagine not having one- the sudden urge to flee can come on at any time.

The kids just got theirs (7 and almost 5) for our trip back down to Aruba this summer.

Some Americans are such whiners- you would think they were being asked to tattoo their SSNs on their foreheads or something. Sheesh, people- jump right into the 21st century…

“We need proof of citizenship for international travel? But we’re Americans!”

Well, I had a passport. I was born overseas, so I got one to come back to the states with my mom at 9 mos. It’s been expired for a while. :stuck_out_tongue:

I haven’t needed one since, and don’t anticipate needing one in the near future. But what the heck, I’ve been thinking about getting one anyway.
