We hoard bags and use them for trashcan liners around the house. Being ethnic Chinese, the wife is wont to save any little thing, so I’m always having to insist on throwing stuff out, but plastic bags from the store – there are NO paper grocery bags in Thailand, or anywhere else in Asia that _I’ve_ seen – come in handy.

(Richard Mason detailed the Chinese penchant for saving any little thing brilliantly in his great novel, _The World of Suzie Wong_.)
