Do you kill insects and spiders?

Inside, I leave spiders alone, but kill everything else. I am promoting the genetic drift of the species to ones that perfer to be outside.

Outside, if they bite, they die.

They’re great for scaring people, though:

ME: Hey, dad, look what I found!
DAD: What did you- AAAAAAAAAAAGHH!
ME: snicker

Supposedly they’re poisonous, but I’ve never had one bite me.

Mosqitos deserve death. Best thing for 'em really.

Spiders need to stay out of my web. If they’re outside, they get to live til a bird or another spider kills them.

House centipedes don’t count as bugs in my book. They’re more like inherently evil alien beings clearly hell-bent on human destruction. I won’t kill them though - no way in hell I’m getting that close.

Since we live in malaria country, I will gladly kill mosquito’s of either sex and laugh about it later. As to spiders, I generally let them be although Ms. DrumBum is not as charitable.

The rural community in which I teach has a huge chicken farm which provides not only tax dollars and employment opportunities, but massive quantities of chicken shit. All the local farmers spread this stink on their fields and the result is massive quantities of flies. Flies everywhere. The fly-swatter in my classroom is a more important tool than my laptop, textbooks, pencils, paper or Advil. Flies suck and I never met one I didn’t relish killing.

I’m cool with spiders. Hate ants in the house, but they’re okay outside. I’m terrified of bees but have been known to trap and release when they get inside. Mosquitoes are immediately swatted; earwigs get the tissue/flush treatment.

the only insects I kill are those that bite or sting…

let me clarify…

Yellow Jacket and brown wasps, they have a tendency to sting for no reason, they die from my pre-emptive strike, mud dauber wasps are generally docile, they get to live

Bees are useful and non-aggressive (European honeybees and bumblebees), they get to live, and in fact, when I’m mowing the lawn during summer, I’ll stop the tractor to let them fly clear of it

Spiders I actually like, and since there are no dangerous ones up here in Maine (brown recluse or black widow) not only do they get to live, but I catch-and-release ones inside the house outdoors, and I feed the Yellow Garden Spiders horseflies and the like

all biting/blood drinking insects (mosquitoes, black flies, deerflies, horseflies, stable flies, and mooseflies) are marked for death and will always be hit with pre-emptive strikes

Oh, forgot to add, the only Ticks that I don’t kill are the human-sized ones that wear blue Superhero costumes, have a battle cry of “SPOOOOOOOON!” and protect The City, all other ticks are destroyed pre-emptively.

my favorite means of tick-icide is using my Mag Instrument MagCharger flashlight, no, not as a club or smashy-stick, but rather using the prodigious infrared heat that it’s powerful incandescent bulb generates in addition to it’s 170-190 lumens of light, it has enough power to bake a tick, especially one that’s fed in any degree
