O yes. Daily lattes are common in all of the emergency departments I’ve worked in. I can think of several of my co-workers who would get one every single day. I’m not a fan but I am a daily smoothie person. I’m a big fan of a daily Jamba Juice Berry Fulfilling or Mango Mantra with a vitamin boost. Costs as much as a latte (if not more) but is a meal replacement sometimes. ---

I know one guy who spends ~$3-4 daily on tea from a coffee shop. I hate Starbucks. I usually make coffee at home and if I have to buy it, I usually go to a cookie store or bakery for $1 coffee. If I have to go to a premium coffee shop, I get their cheapest coffee, which generally is ~$2. ---

I go to cafes pretty much daily. I’m a grad student. Sitting around in cafes is an integral part of my “job”. And I need a lot of caffeine to function because I never get enough sleep. But I try to drink cheaper stuff - I like tea, and that’s cheaper than coffee. ---

Nah, Boones farm is slightly alcoholic sugar water. Real wine has alcohol content of like 12-14%, Boones farm is something like 3-5%. (except Strawberry Hill which is a bit higher, but still half of regular, read REAL wine). ---

At one end you have the home brewed drip coffee, black, out of the Folger’s can…at the other end something served from a boutique coffee shop by someone with a title like barista made with free trade, organic, free range coffee beans from an obscure hill on an island South of Malta, pressed through an espresso machine, to which has been added soy milk, three shots of flavored syrup, Michel Cluizel chocolate, whipped cream and dinosaur shaped sprinkles. At what point do you cross to frou frou? Is it the whipped cream. Is it spending more than $2 on a cup of coffee. Is it the moment the person making it for you is someone other than yourself and calls themselves a “barista” without any irony? Or is it the point my German grandfather would have picked, the moment you add anything (including sugar or a splash of milk) to that ceramic mug other than drip coffee, black? ---

Really fucking strong coffee, but technically, true caffelatte is not made with espresso. ---

I have a latte every morning. We make them at home with our stove-top espresso pot and carry the to work in our travel mugs. I’m a frou-frou urban queer who actually has an excuse to do his job in a café and even I don’t have a daily latte. I usually have a tea or a regular coffee. I probably have a latte or something like it once every few weeks.
