I figured the fact that I specifically mentioned that the elder Bush wouldn’t have been president in 1988 would have made it clear that I understand how the presidential election system works but I think people usually talk about it in terms of election years. ---

I was pretty sure it was Nixon, but I wasn’t sure exactly what day Inauguration Day is. He’d only been president 5 days when I was born. ---

Out of curiosity, are there any Americans who can tell, without looking it up, who was the Speaker of the House when they were born? I’m thinking probably less than one out of a hundred Americans know off the top of their head (I didn’t). ---
