I laugh by myself all the time. I do it in the car when I think of something funny, or see something a little absurd. I laugh at books, and at TV, and at anything I think is funny. Everyone around me has started ignoring my laughter when I’m on the boards, but if I slow down my reading enough to tell them what’s so funny, they usually laugh too.
All the time. What’s weird is that my neighbors are a family that fights all the time; I rarely hear any laughter from them – very sad, really. Whereas I live alone and am easily amused by TV, this board, etc…
I think they’re basically nuts and they probably think the same of me.
All right, this begs a question. Slight hijack, and I apologise, but here goes.
For those of us who DO laugh out loud by ourselves, are we generally a “happy” bunch? (IE, overall, life is good)
For those who don’t laugh out loud by themselves, are they generally not so pleased by life?
Highly scientific survey, I know, but enquiring minds …
Of course I laugh out loud by myself. Hell, sometimes I laugh out loud at myself because, let’s face it, I’m a big goober and frequently laugh-worthy. (Besides, if you can’t laugh at yourself, you have no right to laugh at other people, and I certainly have no intention of giving up laughing at other people.) Hey, if it’s funny, it’s funny, no matter who else is around.
As for sinshine’s theory, I suppose I’m generally a fairly happy person.
Not really, suffer from depression … actually come to think of it, aside from laughing at something funny on TV, I haven’t randomly laughed “for no reason” for a while …
All the time; I laugh every chance I get. If something is funny, why should you not laugh just because there’s no one else to hear it?
I tend to bust up laughing when I remember something funny or am in a situation that reminds me of something funny. Usually when I am alone. Then I have the choice of appearing like a loon or having to explain a long complicated story.
Yesterday, for example, I got a pedicure. I started to laugh because I recalled the scene in dumb and dumber where Jim Carey was getting a pedicure.
The problem is, once I start laughing it tends to trigger more giggles. I had to go to the restroom to stiffle the giggles.
so, um, yeah, I do laugh out loud all the time.
It keeps me young!
All the time…
I also laugh out loud when I’m with others. I just find humor in a lot of things, and don’t hold back when I feel the need to laugh.
