Just socially awkward? And all his questions are just coincidently about naked men and a place where homosexual sex is thought to be rampant? Yeah, that’s it, socially awkward. Oh, and I don’t believe the directors if they suggest they ever contemplated actually using the oral sex line. Sure somebody may have said it during the ‘brainstorm’ session, but it is so far out of place with the rest of the script… ---

Looking at the scene again, the kid is completely oblivious to what Oveur is saying. In fact, the only crew member that makes Joey uncomfortable is Roger Murdock, i.e the one that’s not Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and this after Murdock angrily grabs the kid’s jacket to tell him his old man don’t know shit. ---

I never got the “Walton and Lanier” quote as Kareem never played with Bill Walton or Bob Lanier (at least up to the point the film was released.) It only makes sense in an “I’m not going to say this line about _actual_ teammates” sort of way. ---

He did not play with of those two, he played AGAINST them, hence the term “dragging the two up and down the court for 48 minutes”. In Kareem’s day, most teams played a man-to-man defense, requiring you to stay with your assigned opponent whenever possible. ---

Yeah, I remember an announcer saying of some star player being defended by another that “he’s wearing him like a suitcoat.” What’s really funny is trying to watch Zero Hour! without worrying about your dinner. ---

Gotcha. :smack: I thought that, since the kid was talking about the regular season/playoffs (and how Kareem coasted during the RS (kind of like Shaqobe in the early 00’s)), he was referencing having to drag their carcasses through the regular season as teammates. Of course, your explanation makes more sense. ---
