Do you look things up while reading?

I will look things up to flesh out a small background detail. When I was reading Sue Grafton’s alphabet series, there was one scene where a mention was made of a Monday Night Football game being on in the background. I was curious to see who was actually playing that night. IIRC Kinsey was watching the Giants and 49ers with the game being called by Al Michaels.

ETA. None of those details were in the book, but that was the game being played on the particular night in question.

I thought a catamount was someone who is not at all a gentleman.

I googled several things while reading Clarke’s “Ghost of the Grand Bank”, trying to determine if he had made some things or incidents up.
There is a “Medici Goblet” style or line, but I can’t find any reference to the one supposedly on Titanic.

That sounds wrong, the way you put it. 5 does not go through San Francisco: you would have to go some 50~60 miles to get to it. And it does not really go to any high desert itself, though 80 does (and it goes to San Francisco).

I’m just chock full of Shit.

You may be confusing it with “catamite” although that has a quite different meaning.

There are those who would say they are gentlemen.

Are you elevating your catamite upon a pederast?

Sir, my Second shall call upon you in the morning. Brick bats at fifty yards!
