[/QUOTE] I had to work with someone who ate at their desk and was in a superior position to me for two months. From less than five feet away, she’d smack and slurp and chomp and eat with her mouth open. If the room hadn’t been so quiet, I wouldn’t have been so revolted by the noises. It got so bad that I’m now repulsed by the sounds of chewing in quiet circumstances that are overly loud and have to occasionally inform my SO that his chewing in my ear grosses me out. ---

I do the “ahh” drinking thing and sometimes make a small “mm” sound if something is surprisingly good when I first try it but, otherwise, no. ---

I had a roommate who did the orgasmic moaning food chewing thing. You could hear him from two rooms away. Sometimes he would stand there chewing his food, moaning, and stroking his chest. It was very vaguely creepy. In general I am really repulsed by bad table manners, be it moaning or chewing loudly or whatever draws attention to the eating in an unflattering way. ---

It’s fucking disgusting and if you chew with your mouth open stay the hell away from me. How can someone grow to adulthood without learning that you don’t chew like a cow? ---

Nobody’s mentioned talking with food in your mouth. That, for me, tops all the other stuff above, and many seem to think you’re rude if you don’t! I really don’t want you to pre-chew food for me, thanks. But this abominable behavior was covered in another thread. I’m on my to get a couple tacos carnitas\*, and I may just moan quietly while I enjoy them. But if you ask me if they’re good, please be patient while I finish this bite. Then I’ll answer you. 😉 \*Two small corn tortillas, carnitas, chopped onion and cilantro. Add salsa and they’re ready. Okay, maybe a little finely shredded iceberg lettuce. Enjoy with Negra Modelo. You know how in cartoons when a character is drinking a lot of something quickly they typically do so with a loud ‘glug glug glug’ sound affect? I do that when I drink. All the frinkin time. And I hate it. I’ve tried and tried to be be a quiet drinker, but it seems that my throat just doesn’t work that way. It’s loud enough that other people will comment on it, which makes me really self-conscious about drinking things in public. If I’m drinking something in class I tend to hold a sip of liquid in my mouth and just let it slowly trickle down my throat because that’s the only way I can drink something quietly. ---

Loud, noisy eaters is one of my biggest pet peeves. I think this originates from the fact that my step-mother is Chinese, so I grew up with her and her family members around the dinner table, and it is customary for them to slurp soup and smack their lips when they ate. I used to shoot death stares across the table as a teenager, but to no avail. ---
