Do you own a functioning, ready-to-go turntable?

I have had a turntable since I was a teen, although I’ve had to replace the stylus or the player entirely once in a while. Except for a brief 3 year period, I’ve always had one.

Most recently, I’ve had two on hand. My original was 10+ model connected to my stereo. My other was a recent (4 yo) purchase. A USB model that I have been using ever since to convert LPs to MP3s. It’s really quite fun.

So, yes, I have one and still use it. I’m in my mid-40’s, if it matters.

And it is mainly used for ‘80’s metal. I’m a rivet-head still stuck in the NWOBHM and high school rockin’ tunes. But no hair metal, thank you very much.

My next plan: Once I finish converting all of my LPs, I plan to infiltrate my friends’ homes and steal (ahem…borrow) their old vinyl to augment my collection.

Why? If you like the sound of vinyl, digitize it.

I have to qualify my “I’m in my 40s yes” answer.

It’s a new one purchased for me by my mom from Restoration Hardware.

Why buy more stuff? I’m happy with the way things are.
