What! Now you tell me… 
When I can find the giant bag I put my comforter in for the summer, I like to throw a used dryer sheet in there to keep it smelling fresh, even if I used unscented ones. I will throw one in my drawers and in the closets too. Just a little freshness in closed up places. I don’t use dryer sheets regularly. I got a Downy fabric softer ball and use that in the washer, as this washer doesn’t have an automatic dispenser.
It would never have occurred to me to even try to reuse dryer sheets. Given the way they look and feel after you pull them out of the dryer, it seemed fairly clear that they were one-time deals.
