“pop” is a less sophisticated term, because onomatopoeic (the simplest way of describing something). Though a proud member of the Pittsburgheoisie (I love my city), I’ll never say “pop,” preferring the usage of hated Philadelphia, “soda.”
Yet another Texan!! Cokes yall’ (but I drink Sprite:D )
I drink Coke, even when I have a diet coke, sprite or (God Forbid) Pepsi. I will, however avoid all things pepsi whenever possible-if a restaurant says they only have that stuff, I’ll order a sweet tea. If there’s no sweet tea, I have water or beer.
What’s all this soda and pop? Around my part of the world the correct term is, of course:
GINGER
from ginger beer. Totally illogical, but makes about as much sense as calling everything coke. But we are unusual in that we’re the only country in the world where the top selling soft drink is not Coca Cola. No, it isn’t ginger beer either. I speak of the mighty Irn Bru.
