Not sure why this came to mind a couple of days ago, but I really haven’t been able to come up with any for myself. I’m thinking primarily about mindset, how they react to things/people, and attributes other than external appearance. I guess I’m too nondescript to be worth telling a story about. Maybe I should reread some Dickens. There HAS to be a minor character in one of his books… ---

I can’t think of ONE character that embodies me… I am sort of cross of Generation X slacker Philip j. Fry from _Futurama_ combined with the riddled with anxiety/phobia prone Adrian Monk from _Monk_. EDIT: I did think of another character I resemble personality wise— Bill Dauterive from _King of The Hill_. (I also most physical resemble him at this point as well.) Mix all three the above together and that would be ME ---

One of my high school English teachers once told me I reminded her of Bartleby, the Scrivener. As for how I see myself these days in terms of mindset, reactions to things/people, and attributes other than external appearance, I would say I’m kinda like a sandworm. ---

I could always very well relate to the protagonists in Franz Kafka’s novels “The Trial” and “The Castle”. I often found myself in jobs where I felt the same frustrations, absurdities and Sisyphean struggles that led to nothing. It didn’t help that I have a history of mental health problems, which often were caused by jobs that stressed me out. I retired three years ago and still have regular nightmares where I find myself in Kafkaesque professional situations of having to fulfill impossible, meaningless tasks that lead to nothing. After I read the excellent three-volume Kafka biography by Reiner Stach, I understood that Kafka’s literary nightmares were inspired by his own life, so I can not only relate to his characters, but also to his own struggles in life. > [@Dropo](#): > > One of my high school English teachers once told me I reminded her of Bartleby, the Scrivener. This is kind of awful, but I’ve had several people (who don’t know each other) tell me I remind them of Jackie from That 70’s Show. They say it’s a combination of the way I look and the way I speak. (Nobody has ever said that it’s because I’m a brat like her, but it’s always possible that they think it and don’t say it!) ---
