I freak out every time I take a shower, honestly. I have curly hair so I don’t brush my hair constantly unless it’s straightened, so when I work the conditioner into my hair I have to rub my hands together and ball the hair up to throw away in the trash. Heheh…I used to drive my sister crazy because she is blonde and I have light brown hair, so when I’d condition my hair I’d just plaster all the hair I’d pulled off of my head onto the tiles. I was terrible. But I wonder how I can lose so much hair all the time and still have a full head of it. -foxy ---

It’s intriguing to me that so many of us shedders are curlies. But I guess it makes sense. ---

I have fine hair, but I have A LOT of fine hair. When I shower, I pull out clumps of hair- sometimes more, sometimes less. My hair dresser said that a lot of people lose more hair at the change of the seasons (or dramatic weather changes). After she said that, I paid more attention to my shedding patterns and it seems to me that she is right. ---

I lose MASSIVE quantities of hair. It’s awful! I have LONG hair, too, so it’s a lot of hair. It gets everywhere. I ruined a vacuum cleaner once when my hair got too wrapped around the rolly-thing and started burning. ---

I have thin, naturally straight brown hair. No signs of balding, however. Shoot, if we gathered up all the lost hair that’s been mentioned in this thread alone, we could get rich selling wigs. 😃 ---

I shed everywhere, most of all in the shower and when I brush my hair, but everywhere else as well. And it gets a lot worse when I’m stressed out. ---

I don’t think that I’m shedding…even though I loose hair on top, it seems to simply anchor itself into my back and belly rather than be lost down the drain. Or is that TMI? ---

Hell yes, I shed. (That sounds suspiciously like one of those palindrome sentences, but it’s not.) I’ve had people look at my bathroom and ask me what breed of dog I have. I’m not balding, either; I’m just a very hairy son of a b. (I’m sure that implies that a certain percentage of that is pubes, but I don’t want to think about it.) And I’ll tell you that adding [another hairy guy](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/member.php?userid=11601) to the mix is not helping matters at all. ---

I shed too. Like others mentioned, I shed mostly in the shower and during stressful times or change of weather. My scalp kicks it in to high gear when I’m on antibiotics - for that week or two it at least _some_ comes out every time I touch it or lay my head down. ---

I have lots of fine, thick, wavy hair and I shed like a fiend. It seems a shame to waste all those hairs. ---
