I shower if I’m going to work, and most days I’m not. I have extremely dry skin that does not get on well with showering too often, so I really can’t have more than one a day. I only wash my hair about once a week though. It’s about long enough to sit on, and it takes forever to dry- if I use a hairdryer it becomes a birds nest, so I tend to wash it at night and let it slowly dry. It looks best on the second or third day. For those wondering if it looks icky at the one week point- no, it doesn’t, really, I’ve had spontaneous “Wow, your hair looks great!” Comments when I haven’t washed it for two weeks. I can’t remember _why_ I hadn’t washed it for two weeks, but there you go. ---

Every day. My routine: In the morning I shave, wash my hair and face in the upstairs bathroom sink, and brush my teeth. I don’t do a full shower in the morning. I exercise at lunchtime when I’m at work. I either go to the base gym or run outside. I shower after I exercise in the locker room at work. ---

Yes and no. I definitely don’t wash my hair daily. But I do need it wet for maintenance. I wash it every other day, or maybe every two days if it doesn’t feel oily. In between I do scrub it with my fingers, and scrub my scalp. If I wash my hair every day it’s too dry. If I wash it every three days it’s too oily. Every other day seems to work. For the most part. ---

These threads always remind me of a series of deodorant advertisements back in the '70s. Two people would be talking, and one would say, “Oh, I never use that stuff”, and the other would say, “Yeah. I know.” :eek: If you can skip a day and not be noticeable to people around you, fine. But, you are not the best judge of your own smell, and your friends may not want to tell you. As for skipping two days or more: only if you live waaaay out in the bush and never see another living soul. ---

I bathe pretty much every day. I like my quiet, relaxing bath time. I may forget every once in awhile or just get too busy to take my morning bath, but I aim for every day. In the summer, I might add an evening shower if it’s been hot and I’ve been out and sweating. I don’t like going to bed feeling sweaty. ---

We are getting ready for a trip to Europe in a few months and I read (probably in one of Rick Steve’s books) that Europeans don’t shower every day. I was surprised by that and wonder if it’s really true. I do shower every day, because like Ethilrist, I have no sense of smell. I’m probably not too funky, but I can’t be confident of that since I lack the ability to check. ---

I’m a stay at home mom, so I don’t shower daily. Most days, nobody other than my family sees me. Sometimes it’s just twice a week. However, I do wear deodorant religiously (because otherwise I have awful pit stink). When I was working as a vet tech, it was every working day due to the grunge factor. ---

I would like to shower every day, but it’s too harsh on my skin. I’m pretty sure my skin w/ a daily shower would be much more of a public nuisance than my skin having 1 day of accumulated oils and such. I don’t do physical labor, and I am not required to really go in public at all. Every other day is optimal, based on what my body tells me. More or less frequent= skin issues, itchiness, etc. From a cosmetic standpoint, I’m sure I look my best and healthiest the day after a shower. It does tend to require keeping my hair shorter than I’d prefer, though. ---

In the winter if my hair is buzzed and I haven’t done anything strenuous then I may skip a day. ---

Usually every other day, more often if I work out or otherwise get dirty. I do an even split between mornings and nights. ---

I shower every night before I get in bed. Question to those who do not shower every day. How can you crawl on to your nice clean bed sheets without first taking a shower? You may not feel like you have sweated during the day, but you most assuredly did. ---

I usually shower once every three days. However, I do mind the Carlin-explained “target areas” on a constant basis, out of necessity. I am genetically predisposed to heavy sweating, as well as to more B.O. than the average young adult male, so generally I “target” the armpits 2 times a day (three on shower days, counting the shower itself) and the crotch/taint/ass once a day (usually–this can be as much as four times a day on days I am very physically active, as I sweat profusely in them thar parts; when that happens, they start smelling so horrendous I can’t stand to be around myself, so “targeting” is required). Teeth get brushed twice a day; thrice on days I eat a lot. With all that said, I am a guy who lives in the South and gets around with non-car transportation (combination of bus, train, bicycle, and scooter), so I am not one of the spoiled types who has A/C on me all the time to keep me “spring fresh” throughout the day in between “targetings”. I have had spoiled, bourgeois PrINOs/DINOs (“Progressives In Name Only”/“Democrats In Name Only”) who are my lovely company in the realm of local politics complain because I don’t always smell of Irish Spring and cologne. Boo-fucking-hoo. 😛 ---

I shower every day, but it’s in the morning and yes, I get in to bed without showering again that night. The bed is full of the same dust mites that live at the base of my eyelashes; I can’t get too worried about it. The sheets are dirty after sleeping in them for a night so they are “nice and clean” for one day only.
