Do you still write letters?

Hey Eve, what I meant is that I put the same amount of thought, honesty, and care into writing an email that I put into a snailmail letter. But your point is well-taken. I realize that snailmail requires a little more accountability and trust because I’m not writing under the alias of email. I have to provide an address and my real name, and actually take it to the post office. Having said all that, may I be one of your pen pals?

Shirley Ujest, great idea. Count me in.

plnnr, I’ll be emailing you soon.

Celestina, it’s not the “accountability and trust,” it’s the whole letter “ceremony.” Sitting in front of a computer and htting “open” is just not the same as curling up on the sofa with a letter, some enclosures, maybe a photo. Throwing the ribbon-bound letters of the man who broke your heart into the fire is so much more satisfying than hitting “delete all.”

Quietgirl and I have boxes that we keep the letters that we write to each other in.

When I head across the Atlantic I’m going to become a mad letter fiend, as it’s going to be the sum total of my communication. I don’t mind- I love the feel of the ink flowing onto the paper.

Actually, I find the whole writing part to be a bit of a drag, but there’s nothing I like better than putting on the stamps. Pretty, pretty stamps. Peel, wham, tear, slurp, wham, tear slurp wham, tear slurp wham. Yay, stamps.

Dear all:

Thank you for such a good response to my thread. I certainly am glad to hear that there are others out there who know how to put pen to paper (and that don’t mind doing so).

I’ve collected the names and addresses of those of you who emailed me and told me you were interested in corresponding via snailmail with your fellow SDMBers (with one exception, who shall remain nameless pending a thorough background check on all of you deviants). For expediency’s sake I’ve emailed each of you the list of names and addresses. I trust that everyone else will see the irony in that.

Thanks again for the replies and happy corresponding.

Best wishes for a safe Thanksgiving,

Plnnr
