Not true. It’s useful in scouting out the servers that are attacking you, without letting on that you know you’re being attacked.

Silk Road was an illegal online marketplace on the dark web. It was shut down by the FBI.

And it served as a good example of “You may be hidden and do things out of sight, but if you’re sloppy, once, there’s enough logging and evidence and metadata that you stand a good chance of getting caught…if you do so from a location with extradition treaties.”

Interesting story: Back in the mid 90’s, I was in a dark web chat room, and ran into none other than Cecil himself, which is quite a laugh, considering we had just been to a George Michaels party together the weekend before.

I have the skillz to install and run the software to access it. I do _not_ want to know at all what is there. Nope. Not one bit.
