No. They’re a boring obsolete medium
they lack the charm of a good VHS or Laserdisc collection

Maybe not forever, but they’re meant to last a hell of a lot longer than tapes or whatever else preceded them. They should out last anyone reading this board, anyway.

Real, pressed discs, anyway. Burned discs, that’s another story…

> As someone said the key reason is rarity, and there are literally billions of DVD discs in existence. My father has some old Edison cylinder recordings in near mint condition complete with there cardboard tube cases. I did a bit of research and found that, again because so many were produced, they’re not worth much unless they’re a \*very \*rare or famous recording. Even then, they’re still only worth what some collector is willing to pay. On average, most regular cylinders only fetch between $5-$15 (and they’re over 100 years old)…

This. I have some 1939 World’s Fair collectibles. Now remember, of all World’s Fair’s, this is probably the most memorable. Commemorative spoons only go for +/- $5 each, and there sure weren’t any billion, or even million of those, I’d venture. IIRC, the most expensive thing that I saw on ebay from there is about $150, and that was something that was quite remarkable even for the time. Collectible, but, not valuable.
