That is, do you see/hear/experience something that immediately makes you think of starting a thread here? Do you do this often? I was instant messaging with someone from here last week and our conversation made them think of a thread to start. Then we were talking today (still are actually) and he jokes about starting a thread from something that was said. I don’t do this. I can’t think in potential threads. All the threads I start are usually thought out ahead of time, even if they are joking/humorous threads. Even my [recent Dr Pepper](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=669652) thread almost never became a topic here. I was thinking of how I can find out where more of those cans are and the thought of starting a thread here was not the first thing to come to mind. It was more just like a flash of brilliance, “Oh hey I know! I’ll ask on the Straight Dope!” So, do you see things in life as a potential SDMB thread or have to actually think things out? ---

I was at a restaurant last week and a song came on the jukebox that reminded me of this place. Can anybody guess what it was? ---

I start few threads, but it’s usually something that I’ve thought of during the day and think “Dopers will know this”. Admittedly, only about 10% of the time do I actually post the question. The other 90% of the time I either deem it not worthy or have forgotten the damn topic by the time I get here. ---

I think of the most fantastic threads to start _ever_ while I’m falling asleep. And then I promptly forget them before morning. I know that the ideas were _so good_, though. I also do this with people I used to know that I want to look up on Facebook. ---
