> I think this is exactly one of the reasons it’s possible that it would be legalized. We’re all older now, and there are many responsible members of society that are saying ‘look this isn’t the evil the older generation thinks it is’. I 42 and I can say my parents didn’t say this to me. They were more like ‘It’s illegal and you will get in trouble’. I’m sure their parents said something along the lines of ‘it’s a gateway drug and next thing you know, you’ll be listening to that music and worshiping the devil’

I don’t know. I still hear the “gateway drug” argument being used. For example, when Seattle’s citizens passed a ballot measure to make marijuana prosecutions the lowest possible police priority. I’m impressed that it passed, but the fact is Seattle’s police are still making arrests. WA also has a medicinal use provision, which the Fed. Gov’t. has been fighting in various ways.

I’m only a bit younger than you; maybe when more people of our generation are actually in charge, we’ll see some changes. The Baby Boomers still have the “evil gateway drug” nonsense burned into their consciousness, as far as I can tell.

> Sorry; I was just surprised that you thought pot was legal in Canada, to the point where we could ask “Well, has the Canadian store-bought pot business driven home farming out of the market?”; I wasn’t sure where you got that idea. But I understand that “Um” comes off as unnecessarily snarky.

If you google “marijuana seeds” you’ll get Canadian sites that sell them. I assumed it was largely decriminalized now.

> I think all you’d need to do for a stoned test is ask them a couple of simple questions like “what is your middle name?” or “what was the last question I asked you?” If it takes them more than 4 seconds to answer, you know they’re baked.

Along with this, if a simple question like “What is your middle name?” produces hysterical laughter whilst explaining why your middle name is handed down through the generations of your family. . .they’re probably baked.

To address the OP: I hope so! I used to enjoy marijuana use occasionally when I was young. Now my husband is a federal employee. There are a lot of positions he would like to interview for that would require top security clearance. If I were caught with an illegal substance like marijuana, and convicted of possession of same, it could have long-range impact on his career. For this reason, I would not use marijuana now. If it were legal, though. . .

Not really all that many.

> Pot is different though. It’s kinda like hot peppers. Most people only need a few plants to keep a stash that will last awhile. I know I like growing hot peppers and I have bags & jars filled with more than I need. If you can grow a hot pepper successfully, pot isn’t much more difficult.

Not very many are growing their own hot peppers despite how easy it is.
