Dollar for dollar, the best money I’ve spent on burglary deterents are outdoor motion sensor lights. Sure a pro who’s been scoping out your house for weeks and creeps around like he’s in Mission Impossible will figure it out, but any casual thief is going to turn and walk/run when a light is turned on him when he approaches your home. ---

From the Low Hanging Fruit department: They do deter “Burglars”, only if attached to “Doors” and “Windows”. ---
