Hey, I just figured out how to turn the damn thing on, why the hell would I turn it off?
I have everything plugged into a surge protector that has an on/off switch. When I am not on the computer, I shut the surge protector off, which turns off monitor, printer and computer.
I had an older computer that had the fan die in the middle of the night and it overheated and the whole computer took a major dump.
Plus, I too have this thing about wasting electricity (maybe since prices more than doubled in one year here in Nevada) so I pretty much shut off everything at night except airconditioner. Realistically, by turning off the computer and stuff, I am probably saving 6 cents per year, but psychologically it just seems the right thing to do.
3 computers in my house, always on. Its a habit I picked up from work.
