I just added a poster, my first. (S)he would often post inaccurate answers to other peoples questions, and I finally thought “I don’t want to read these”. Enough other people ask for cites (and don’t get them). ---

No. There are, however, a few people I never respond to, as their comments on my posts always come off as baiting. ---

I have ignored a handful of people who met three criteria: 1. Never said anything worthwhile; 2. Always said something infuriating; 3. Posted a LOT. I can overlook any two of these, but combining all three in one person is just two much for my sanity. ---

No one for me - combination of the board being big and varied and me not being a prolific poster means there’s no point. I post on a sports board and would dearly like to have an ignore function for one or two posters. Because we’re all posting around the same narrow theme, I can guarantee that they will never, ever have anything even vaguely worthwhile to say. Here, though, if there’s one guy who persistently talks shite in evolution threads, is it not possible that they might have something interesting or useful to say on one of the 200 other topics being discussed? OK, maybe not 🙂 ---

If the ignore feature meant I could completely ignore anything and everything someone posted, then maybe. Since it doesn’t, no. ---

No. There are one or two posters whose posts I won’t read if I notice. But I don’t use the ignore function. ---

The [vBulletin management add-on for Firefox](https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/7023) will allow you to do this. It removes all posts made by the ignored user (without that little “click here to view user’s post” box, either) and also removes any snippets of the ignored user’s posts that were quoted in other people’s posts. You also won’t see threads started by the ignored user. ---

Does not reading a thing in the BBQ Pit count? If not, then no. The ignore function is lame. I can root folks out as I read. ---

There are a lot of differences, but I can’t think of one that makes using the feature a disadvantage. One gives you the chance to see what is said, and get mad. The other hides them. It also serves as a reminder that this person makes you mad. So if you do decide to read, you know to brace yourself, so you don’t get mad inadvertently. Pretty much everything else I can think of would be exactly the same either way. This whole “I’d miss out on the part of the conversation” bit is particularly puzzling, as you’d miss out if you actively ignore anyways. And you’ll look just as stupid. ---

The point I was trying to make is that I inadvertently ignore folks, if they only post in the pit. When I read, I can gloss over some posts, but that hasn’t happened in a minute. ---

I used it once when it first became available just to test it by randomly putting someone on it. I immediately took them off after the test and haven’t even looked at in since. ---

I’ve never felt the need to ignore-lit somebody. There just aren’t enough people who are both A) offensive every time they write and B) hang out in the same forums I do.
